Eyebrow Threading

http://www.howiteasy.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Eyebrow-Threading.gif

If you don’t know what eyebrow threading is, you may want to take a look into it. This form of shaping your eyebrows comes from India and is done by using a thread. There are also other ways to use threading, such as your lip, chin, cheeks and even sideburns.
There are quite a few benefits to having threading done. This is rated as the best way to have your eyebrows shaped. It actually pulls the hairs out in a straight line so the look is very natural. Also, when you compare the price to other methods, it is fairly inexpensive.

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_aJN5d_Eih1c/SCx5lSzTEhI/AAAAAAAAAHs/BvTwArr-bgE/s200/eyebrow-threading.jpg
If you use medicated products on your skin for pimples and other blemishes, this will be a lot better for your skin if you are prone to breakouts. Your skin will be sensitive from the medications and threading is natural.
Some say that it is less painful than tweezing. Others say that it is about the same. It basically comes down to a matter of opinion. There are some people that also say that threading for the eyebrows lasts longer than tweezing. Waxing will also last you at least two weeks.
Everyone’s skin is different and whether you have your eyebrows threaded or your use a different method, it will depend on how you and your skin react to having the method done. This method has been around for such a long time.
It is now making its way here from India and is becoming a very popular method as time goes on. If you are considering having threading done, you may have to do a little research to find a salon that is near you to have this done. It is still not available everywhere that you may go.
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_yZ5ZPz5_4cQ/SocUyLofH5I/AAAAAAAAAOg/U202sMyM1ek/s320/ThreadingImage.jpg
By jumping on the internet, you will be able to find a location near you fairly quickly. Call around and ask the prices that different places charge and you will probably find that the fee is pretty standard and most likely, cheaper than your original method.

You may like it enough to recommend it to your friends and other family members.

Take Care of your Nails

http://bridesmaid-hairstyles.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/8da08b0ef8thumb.jpg.jpg

Taking care of your nails is pretty easy and does not take much time. While applying sunscreen to the rest of you, don’t forget to put it on your hands as well. This will prevent your hands from falling prey to age spots. You might not have any now, but if you aren’t careful, you will in the future. While dressing out, we concentrate a lot on our other essentials, thinking that no one will notice our old, chipped nail polish. You might think that no one notices, but your hands are more visible than you think. Apply a fresh top coat every second day to help prevent chipping. Some

http://www.sada-e-watan.com/Home/uploads/prd_a8013.jpg
experts believe that extra calcium will help your nails, while others don’t. So make sure to add milk to your diet. Nails play a significant role in beautifying your hands but taking care of them is a must.
The first thing to do is stop biting your nails. Take time to cultivate them. You can use a nail hardener to protect them from splitting and peeling and have Vitamin E supplements to keep them growing long and strong. You should not use any hard instrument to clean under the nail. But use soap and a nailbrush for it. Make sure your moisturizer is just not restricted to your face and body. Your nails need it too. You should apply a moisturizer to your nails every night to reduce evaporation of water.
http://cdn.glamcheck.com/fashion/files/2010/02/Nail-care.jpghttp://www.fulmasti.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Hand-and-Nail-Care1-150x150.jpgA weekly manicure can do wonders for your nails and cuticles. Do not use acetone nail polish removers because this will eat your nails. Always use non-acetone instead. If your nails begin to lift, then have them fixed immediately. Lifted nails are highly susceptible to fungus growth if not taken care right away. You should also not cut the cuticles or push them back. Doing so will only inflame the nail fold, causing it to crack and weaken the nail. Hence, a few of these tips will soon have you sporting perfectly healthy, manicured nails.

Follow these few simple steps to get that pink glow back to your feet and look beach ready in no time.

The shower is a place for you to relax and beautify. We treat our hair with nourishing shampoos and get that silky soft skin with our favorite razor. What about your feet? Keep a foot file or a pumice stone on the shelf in the shower and exfoliate your feet. Spots where calluses love to grow such as the sides of your big toe should get special attention. You want to push the cuticles back with a wash cloth before you get out

of the shower.Once you are out of the shower and dried off, trim and file your nails. You want to make sure that the edges are at a 45 degree angle and the nail is cut straight across. By cutting them on an angle, it helps to prevent ingrown toenails. Find a buffer that has at least 3 different grits and give your nails a beautiful shine. If you start with the roughest and end with the smoothest, your nails will shine for about a week and even have a hint of color
Last but not least, give your feet a good massage with a thick lotion. Try to find one with panthenol. Put on a nice thick pair of socks and let your feet get toasty for about an hour. If you do this before you go to bed, sleep with your socks on, your body heat will let the moisturizer seep in and your feet will feel as smooth as a baby’s bottom.http://4womens.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/Pedicure-at-Home-1.jpg
Follow these easy steps ladies and you will be able to tap dance your feet on any mans heart. Not to mention they will look perfect in those new flips that you bought for the summer. Pink will look great on your toes in the summer.

7 Health Tips To Help You Live A Long And Happy Life

http://cookware.mercola.com/CMSTemplates/Cookware/cw-images/happy-people.jpgIn order to live a healthy life, it is absolutely essential that you follow the seven tips listed below.
I am not a health expert, but I have read books written by health experts like Eat, Drink, And Be Healthy. In fact, almost all of the statistics and recommendations you will see below are based on this fantastic book.
My thoughts are, if you can’t trust 30+ years of Harvard medical
research, who can you trust?
Every recommendation on this page may not turn out to be 100% accurate. However, as of this decade, this is about the best that we humans know so far about eating right and being healthy.
If you follow the advice on this page, you will be way ahead of about 99.99% of the people on this planet as far as maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Take these suggestions to heart. Apply as many of them as possible into your daily life, and I promise you will be on the road to a much longer and healthier life…
new food pyramid

1. Exercise And Maintain A Healthy Weight

The absolute, most important thing you need to do to be healthy is to exercise and maintain a healthy weight. What is a healthy weight?
That, of course, depends on how tall you are. The best way to determine if you are at a good weight for your size is to calculate your Body Mass Index (opens new window). I highly encourage you to click on the link and do a quick five second calculation of where you currently stand.
Eating the right things is very important, but your top priority should be getting your Body Mass Index under 25. If yours happens to be over 25, make it your goal today to get your weight into this “healthy range.”
It’s so important that you get your weight under control...
I am going to present a diet plan to help you out. Follow this plan and also an exercise plan if you currently aren’t on one. Speaking of exercise…
It’s essential that you add some sort of physical activity into your life.
Even if you are at a healthy weight, you still need exercise in your life. Not only will your heart thank you, but it will also help…
  • protect you from certain cancers
  • prevent diabetes, arthritis, and osteoporosis
  • reduce your risk of falling
  • relieve symptoms of depression and anxiety
  • maintain your healthy weight!
I hope I have brought home the importantance of maintaining a healthy weight. But let me ease your mind a little about daily exercise…
A brisk walk is nearly as effective as a morning jog. You don’t have to make exercise painful and excruciating. What you need to do is get into the habit of doing a little bit every day. My workout routine is nothing elaborate. I jog a mile every day when I first get up. I also occasionally do some push ups and sit ups. And that’s about it.
I could go on and on about the benefits I have received from my morning jog. Here are just a few…
  • a better mood throughout the day
  • a decrease in anxiety and stress
  • much more energy throughout the day
  • the disappearance of that after lunch slump
The benefits truly do go on and on. But I’ll let you experience them first-hand and find out for yourself!
As far as what type of exercise is best, I’ll only give you one piece of advice. And that is to have an exercise routine that works all of your muscles. For example, I jog every morning. But that does very little for my arms and shoulders, which is why I also do some push ups and some weight training a couple times a week. You must give all of your muscles a workout. Otherwise, you are going to experience problems down the road with the areas of your body that you aren’t giving it’s proper exercise.
So, have a little variety in your exercise routine. This will help all of your bones stay healthy. And…
Maintain a healthy weight. Get started exercising. Now, let’s bring on the food…

2. Start Eating Good Fats

Easily, the biggest myth when it comes to eating is that fats are bad. This is completely false! Some fats are tremendously healthy for you.
So many diets out there consist of eliminating all types of fats from your diets. Not only does this give you nothing good to eat, it’s also very unhealthy.
Here’s a good rule of thumb:
The more people eliminate fats, the fatter they get!”
You need to have certain fats to live a healthy lifestyle. So, what are good fats and what are bad fats?
The bad fats are saturated fats and trans fats. You can live with some saturated fats in your life. However, trans fats should be completely removed from your diet. These fats, typically found in many things that you order at restaurants, are contributing significantly to the obesity that is currently in the world today.
Saturated fats can be found in things such as butter, chocolate, margarine, chips, and french fries. These fats are solid at room temperature.
The good fats are unsaturated fats. Whether they're polyunsaturated fats or monounsaturated fats, these fats are very good for your heart. You need to include these fats in your diet.
Unsaturated fats can be found in foods such as corn, nuts, fish, vegetable oil, and olive oil. These fats are liquid at room temperature.
The number one thing you should do when it comes to eating is to eat less saturated/trans fats and replace them with good, heart-healthy unsaturated fats. Here are some tips to help you do that…
  • replace red meats with healthier meats such as chicken or fish
  • make nuts your favorite snack
  • when choosing meat, get the leanest cut possible
  • replace butter when cooking with olive oil or vegetable oil
  • cut back on milk and other dairy products as much as possible
I cannot even begin to tell you how important it is to start eating healthier fats. Besides healthy weight and exercise, it’s the most important thing you can do to become healthy. Use the suggestions above and your heart will thank you.

3. Load Up On Whole Wheat

The second most important healthy eating tip is to eat plenty of whole wheat. The best way to explain the benefits of eating whole wheats is “almost every benefit imaginable.” If you want more specifics, visit this article at WHFoods.
The more important questions are, how do we add whole wheat to our diet? And also, how can we tell if the whole wheat in food is real or fake?
The first place to get started is obviously in your bread selection. Look for the term “100% Whole Wheat.” Do not purchase any alternatives to this term. For example, terms such as…
  • made with whole wheat
  • 100% wheat
  • contains whole grain
…simply do not cut it! These are impostors to the healthy “100% whole wheat” label. This is the only thing you should look for when it comes to bread.
As far as other products go, look for “whole wheat” in the title. Whole wheat buns, whole wheat rolls, whole wheat cereal, etc., etc.! And speaking of cereal…
Cereal is another excellent source of adding whole wheat to your diet. Don’t think that eating healthy cereals is going to taste bad either. Here are a few that are loaded with whole wheat…
  1. General Mills Total
  2. Wheaties
  3. Cheerios
  4. Wheat Chex
Kick-start your morning with one of these cereals and one or two slices of whole wheat bread. It will make all of the difference in the world!

4. A Variety Of Fruits And Vegetables

This probably won’t come as a shocker, but eating plenty of fruits and vegetables is very important when it comes to healthy eating. It’s the third most important step behind good fats and whole wheat.
healthy foodWhen it comes to eating fruits and vegetables, there are two words that are essential. Those two words are more and different.
Try to eat as many different colors of each. With vegetables, have some green lettuce, orange carrots, red tomatoes, yellow corn and brown beans. Each vegetable has its own unique health benefit. SO, if you want to get all of the benefits from eating vegetables, start eating as many different kinds as possible.
The same goes with fruits. Have a yellow banana, a red apple, an orange, and a purple plum. I’ve yet to figure out why fruits aren’t more popular than what they are. They are very delicious and healthy at the same time!
Here are the top three benefits of having a diet rich in fruits and vegetables:
  1. It decreases the chance of a heart attack or stroke
  2. It protects against cancers
  3. It lowers your blood pressure
Try to have at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Don’t count potatoes because there are some negative side-effects with potatoes. Also, uncooked fruits and vegetables are better because cooking them destroys some of the phytochemicals (benefits).
I will discuss in a little bit the use of common sense when it comes to your diet. Fruits and vegetables could easily be included in that section. Be smart and eat an abundance and variety of fruits and vegetables.

5. A Multivitamin Life Insurance Policy

A daily multivitamin is one of my four steps in how to have a perfect morning. It’s so important to get into the habit of taking a multivitamin. Here’s why…
No matter how perfect your diet is, it’s nearly impossible to get all of the vitamins and minerals you need. And since your body doesn’t naturally make these things for you, taking multivitamin supplements are the perfect way to make sure your body gets them.
You may have heard some negative things about multivitamins such as that your body doesn’t use 90% of what’s in the pill. And that statement may very well be true. But that other 10% that your body does use is extremely important!
Some of the vitamins that you likely have a hard time getting enough of on a daily basis are vitamins B6, B12, D, and Folic Acid.
The daily use of a multivitamin makes sure you get all of these essential vitamins!

6. Alcohol In Moderation

Of all of the seven health tips, this one is probably the least important. However, study after study shows that drinking one alcoholic drink a day adds great benefits to your health. More specifically…
Men who have one or two alcoholic drinks a day are 30-40% less likely to have heart attacks. For women, this number is slightly less but still very significant.
If you are young (under 50), it’s not the end of the world if you haven’t been drinking one or two glasses of wine everyday. However, I would highly encourage anyone over 50 to start having a glass of wine at dinner. Or, as some people like to do, a “shot and a beer” at lunch time.
For women, I should mention another important statistic. Anything more than one drink a day for women increases the chance of breast cancer by 20%. So keep it to just one glass a day ladies.
As I mentioned before, drinking alcohol in moderation isn’t the most important thing you can do. But it’s just another piece to the puzzle towards living a healthy lifestyle.

7. A Final Touch Of Common Sense

The more I study nutrition, the more I realize that most of it comes down to common sense.
Don’t get me wrong though. I still learn new things when I study nutrition. For example, I had no idea how important whole wheat was. Or that small doses of alcohol each day was actually good for you!
But when you study nutrition as much as I have, the more often you'll see the same things being mentioned time and time again. Eat fruits and vegetables. Avoid butter as much as possible. Don’t put so much salt on your food.
These things we already know. It’s just that we forget about how important they are and why we are doing them. I’m sure that it’s your plan to live a long and healthy life isn’t it? Just remember, your diet and exercise plan are extremely important. Never forget how important they truly are.
When you are out shopping at the grocery store, try to go for the healthy stuff as much as possible. You already have a good idea of what is good and bad. For example, pizza is bad. Fish is good. Ice cream is bad. Apples are good.
When all else fails, please, use your common sense. It will lead you to making healthier eating decisions a majority of the time.
If one box of cereal lists several health benefits on the front cover and another one says “chocolate fudge”, you know which one you should choose!

Healing Tips for Dry, Chapped Lips : Causes and How to Cure Cracked Lips with the Right Treatments

http://www.howtogetridofstuff.com/wp-content/uploads/how-to-get-rid-of-cracked-lips1.jpg

While most people think of chapped lips being a winter time woe, the truth is dry lips can occur in any season. Chapped lips can become very painful, especially if ignored. Not only are flaky lips unattractive, but living with sore lips can be severely aggravating!

Main Causes Of Cracked Lips

Chapped lips (medically known as cheilitis) are caused by several things. Most people are familiar with the fact if they lick their lips during cold or windy weather, they could become chapped. Most people stock up on Vaseline or lip balm during the winter months. Layering on a natural lip protectant before heading out into the extremities is a good way to prevent chapped lips. Chapped lips can also be caused by excessive licking of the lips. There are thousands of people who have a habit of licking their lips multiple times throughout the day. This extreme licking routine can cause irritation of the skin on and around the mouth (including the lips).
Most people find themselves licking their lips more than needed because they feel as if their lips are constantly dry. Children are the most common offenders of this habit. The best way to counteract this type of habit and resulting chapping is by ensuring the lips are constantly moisturized. Therefore, you don’t feel as if you need to lick your lips throughout the day.

Moisturize Lips More Than Your Skin

One of the best ways to learn how to prevent chapped lips is by remembering to consistently moisturize your lips. Sure, you may spend a great deal of time applying lotion and cream to your face and body. However, you should not forget your lips. Beauty tips experts agree the skin on the lips is as sensitive as the skin on your eyes. It should be treated with care! Products from Chapstick or Burts Bees are often great choices in lip moisturization.

Finding a Remedy or Dry Lips Treatment that Works

Finding a treatment that works for your chapped lips can be a bit of a challenge. What works for some people, may not work well for others. While there’s not a technical cure for chapped lips, there are many remedies you can try at home. To soothe chapped lips, apply a thick lip balm. Many people choose to use plain Vaseline instead of trying to medicate with other lip treatments. Any ointment with natural ingredients is ideal to help your lips heal with ease. While your lips are healing, be sure not to lick your lips or get excess saliva in mouth and lip area. As your lips are almost healed, you can take a toothbrush and softly brush it across your lips to remove all dead skin. Be careful when doing this, as you don’t want to cause further damage.

Getting Your Beauty Sleep: 4 Beauty and Health Benefits of Sleeping

http://www.ayushveda.com/dietfitness/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/girl-sleep-img.jpg

If you see enough Sleep Number or Tempur-pedic commercials or advertisements, you may think sleep is easy to come by. But, thousands of people suffer from not getting enough rest and their health is directly affected. Whether you are lacking sleep because you’re suffering with a sleep disorder like sleep apnea or insomnia, or
you simply are so busy you can’t make the time to hit the mattress earlier each night, it’s important for you to have healthy sleep habits.Check out these health and beauty benefits to getting more sleep to see exactly why improving your sleep habits should be a major priority!

  1. Poor Sleep Linked to Heart and Cancer
Poor sleep habits have been directly linked to many heart conditions, like heart disease, heart attack, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and stroke. Doctors state the heart needs at least 7 to 9 hours a sleep each night, for optimal function. In addition, many researchers believe there is a link between people with low levels of melatonin and cancer. In many studies, melatonin has shown the ability to suppress tumor growth. So, not only should you be sure you get enough sleep, but also be sure you don’t sleep with the television or a light on, as melatonin needs darkness to be able to effectively be reproduced each evening.

  2. Better Sleep, Less Stress, Less Wrinkles and Signs of Aging
A body that’s not getting enough sleep is a body under extreme physical stress. When you are lacking sleep, your blood pressure rises, your stress hormones go into overdrive and you are at a higher risk for many medical conditions.  High blood pressure on a regular basis ages your arteries.  Stress itself can cause wrinkles and other outer beauty consequences that could make you look older than you really are. With more sleep, you have more energy and be ready to face the day with a positive attitude, when you’re well rested.
  3. Rest Is Great For Your Skin
Sure, you’ve seen the ladies with the terribly unattractive dark circles and bags under their eyes. However, you may not link those unsightly beauty problems to sleep habits. Sleep is extremely important for your body and your skin because when you sleep your body is able to repair any damage it has endured. Skin damage done by stress, ultraviolet rays or other things can often be repaired and protein to help improve cell growth is produced. By getting enough sleep, you’ll be helping your skin naturally look radiant and gorgeous!
  4. Getting Proper Sleep Lower Your Depression Risk
With today’s lifestyles being hectic and stressful, many more people are suffering from depression. However, many studies are showing sleep might be able to help you ward off depression. Sleep can affect brain chemicals like serotonin, which is directly linked to depression. To be sure you are setting yourself up for the best chance to always feel your best, stick to a regular sleep routine and ensure you’re getting at least 7 hours of REM sleep each evening.
While the benefits of better sleep might seem obvious, many people still suffer from increased waking at all hours, bad dreams or snoring conditions. These things can certainly make it difficult for even the most exhausted person to get great sleep. If this is the case for you, be sure you talk to your doctor about how you can improve your sleep habits. Perhaps it will simply mean cutting out caffeine after 3 in the afternoon, trying a different sleeping posture or sticking to a stricter sleep routine. If you think you wake up more than the average person or have trouble falling asleep, your doctor might be able to help you find a successful solution!

Pedicures and Foot Care Tips for Year Round Pretty Bare Feet

The foot: an interesting part of the human anatomy. When we’re born, they take our footprints, people count our toes and tickle our soles to hear that wonderful baby gurgle. At that amazing age babies can actually take hold of their feet to chew reflectively on their own toes. Long before we’re walking, our parents are cramming them into tiny little leather Oxfords, hiking boots or even tiny running shoes, I guess because they’re just so darned cute. Once we do start walking, we take our feet for granted. They get us where we want to go, and that’s just fine.

Sexy feet, repulsive feet, are not usually a matter of luck. A lot depends on the care and maintenance regime established by the foot-owner. At an absolute, bare minimum, feet should be clean. I mean, you walk on them, don’t you! What if you were stuffed into a leather show all day, strolling through parking lots, jogging in parks, shopping, doing laundry, tapping impatiently in line at the bank. Feet suffer from lack of air, from shoes that don’t breathe, from sweaty conditions on hot summer asphalt. Daily scrubbing with soap and a nail brush is a good start, but it’s only a start, if you want good-looking feet.
When it comes to toenails, there is no in-between. Clean, healthy, well-groomed toenails are sexy. Grubby, long, unhealthy toenails are nasty, and not to be tolerated. Toenails should be well-brushed with soapy water, clipped short and neat with clippers, and treated with anti-fungal medicine if nails are discolored, thick or peeling. Even girls can get athlete’s foot (always wear flip-flops at the gym, at the pool, at the park, in any shower that is not your very own), and there topical medicines that can cure it. (If you don’t know what athlete's foot is, it’s a fungus that causes feet to burn, itch and peel).
Assuming your feet are clean and healthy, the step to beauty is a short one. Keep your feet smooth by using a pumice stone a couple of times a week, rub them with lotion like Upper Canada Peppermint Foot Cream to keep them soft, and use a clear polish if you don’t like brightly colored toes. No one talks about it (except in women's studies class), but women grow hair on their toes. If your toes are fuzzy, you can wax them to add to overall foot smoothness. Get a pedicure for that professional polish, but don’t let them cut your cuticles, whose sole purpose in life is to keep your feet safe from infections.
Showcase your sexy feet in strappy date-night sandals, sexy career pumps or silly, weekend, jelly thongs with a silver toe ring for an accent. (Never wear a toe ring and an anklet at the same time –it’s a huge Fashion Don’t). Hiking boots are ideal for long walks, and they also look cute with ragg socks in wool or cotton and tweed skirts. Boots always look wonderful, and the longer they are, the better they look. (There is a limit—boots that go past the knee scream "Dominatrix!" and may not be the look you’re trying to project.

Girly Girl's Beauty Guide to Camping & Outdoor Vacations

If you want to maintain your beautiful image, never go camping. You may be able to survive a hike of beauty with some waterproof makeup products that can stay put for up to 18 hours. But if you'd like to experience Yosemite or Yellowstone and would rather sleep under the stars than at the Best Western, you don't have to give in entirely to Mother Nature's plan to cover you in dirt, sweat and mosquito bites. Read on for tips to being as gorgeous as possible at the campground of your choice.Ideally, you can start each day with a warm shower.

Look for campgrounds that provide running water and "comfort stations", bathrooms with showers and sinks. Hot water (or warm water, in a pinch), is a great cleanser for a gal who's spent the days wandering through the underbrush. If you must, even a cold shower may be preferable to none at all. Most national parks have campgrounds with restrooms, but they get booked up early, so make sure when planning your trip to make your reservations in plenty of time to get a prime location.
Now, here's what to bring with you when you meet Mother Nature face to face.
1. Bug repellent
If there's a lake or a river, if temperatures are in the seventies or higher, if humidity is over 50%, you'll be wanting mosquito repellent. If you're planning to have children ever, read the label before buying repellents: some can cause reproductive harm. (Let's not take this particular moment to discuss why the FDA allows the sale of products that are known to cause birth defects. Then, we'd have to talk about the tobacco industry, and the petroleum industry, and we don't have time for that just now.)
After three days in a national park and a couple of five-mile-hikes through mosquito-infested meadows, I found a product called Herbal Armor, (available from www.allterrainco.com) a combination of citronella, peppermint, cedar, lemon grass and geranium oils in a base of beeswax and natural vegetable oils that kept me bite-free for the rest of the trip. I didn't test it at peak bug times, but I liked its natural, petrochemical-and-cruelty-free makeup. With the West Nile virus still growing and spreading west, bug repellents are becoming more than comfort products--they're important protection from a nasty illness.
2. Wet Wipes
A way to wash without running water. Nice smell, antibacterial. Portable. Perfect.
3. Water, and Lots of It
Drinking water is always important, and if you're hiking, you'll need even more of it. Best-case scenario, you'll have drinking water at your campsite and will just need to pack in enough for the hike. If you happen to have water for washing too, that's even better.
You can wash in streams (use biodegradable soap) and lakes, but don't drink water unless you know it's potable (there are signs at campgrounds saying whether the water is potable and can be drunk, or not). Water fresh from a bubbling spring is certainly attractive, but if a deer or raccoon (or gopher or bear) has also been attracted to water upstream from you, it may very well be contaminated with bacteria and parasites. If you're in parkland or Bureau of Land Management (BLM) areas, or even federally managed "wilderness", the water may also be contaminated with pesticides, herbicides, runoff from logging and mine tailings, and god-knows-what. I guess the lesson here is, find out as much as you can about where you're going before you leave, and make your bathing plans accordingly.
4. The Right Clothes
You can buy clothes with UV protective qualities combined with breathability. Try REI or other outdoor clothing retailers. You should have a hat, not only to keep the sun off, but to protect your head from hanging brambles, and, in cold weather or rough country, a knit cap to sleep in is also a good idea. (I have a friend who once woke screaming because a field mouse, also screaming, had gotten tangled in her long hair.)
Clothes should fit closely enough that they won't catch on things when you're running from a bear, but loosely enough so that nothing chafes. People with sensitive skin may not be able to tolerate long hikes in heavy denim, the seams of which can rub delicate skin. Cargo pants in cotton blends may provide smooth fabric with extra storage space in the form of pockets. (But if you're more concerned about looking svelte than in extra pockets, skip the cargo pants: they tend to make most of us look hippy.)
Layering is crucial, because you're going to heat up when hiking, cool down after camp's setup, and maybe get really cold in the mountain evening. My favorite outdoor piece is an ultra-thin, silk long-john shirt I found at a thrift store five years ago. It weighs about an ounce, but slipped on under a shirt, provides the equivalent of a whole sweater's worth of warmth.
5. Animal Repellents
Animal repellents such as pepper spray, bear spray and dog spray can all be essential safety and self defense items that are perfect for the outdoors. You never know what type of dangerous situation your could find yourself in out in the wilderness either with a human attacker, wild bear or vicious mountain lions. A defense spray on hand will give you time to escape to safety.

Beauty Accessory Ideas

As far as accessories, a hot gift idea for a teen with a low-budget can be decorative jewelry, that doesn't necessarily have to come from Tiffany's.  There are plenty of places online where you can shop for attractive and very reasonably priced items. Believe it or not, the way you move can actually be one of the most attractive or off-putting features you have. When you can move more gracefully and assuredly, that puts out an air of confidence which will make a difference to matter what it is you are or are wearing.  Consider taking a dance lesson, enrolling in some sort of after school sport like gymnastics where you can learn more control over your balance and agility.
You may think, what does this have to do with looking good when I'm going out to a party- but once you've got grace and agility in what is referred to as your "muscle memory", it will make a difference in all areas of your life.
And lastly, I always think, especially if going out at night, that taking the time to buy pepper spray, even if it's a teeny little canister that goes on a keychain can be one of the best "accessories" you can own for your own and your loved one's peace of mind. It's probably one of those things you'll never need to use that you'll always be happy you have.

Beauty Tips For Teens: Hair and Style

Hair Care Tip

Dwayne, the African-American Culture contributing hair care expert, shares a secret beauty tip on how to prevent hair breakage while you sleep for all hair types, not just black women. Spilt ends have a tendency
to get caught on the cotton and your tossing and turning will actually pull the caught pieces out of your head. So little by little, if you were wearing a cotton scarf  to protect your hair while you sleep, you may actually be making it worse! It is highly recommended that you either wrap your hair up in silk or satin scarves at night or sleep on silk or satin pillows.

Indian Ethnics.com, has some good Indian (and non Indian as well) beauty tips on make up and skin care for teens. Here's the secret: If you are getting ready for a night on the town, choose a foundation closest to your natural skin tone, and foundation that is to be sure to blend it past your jaw line and across your neck (so it doesn't look as though you're wearing a mask). When it comes to eye shadow, choose a color slightly darker than your eyes.

Beauty Tips For Teens: Skin,

Let's face it. Being a teenager means being self-conscious, pretty much all the time. and, if you're a teenage girl, especially one whose skin, complexion or overall appearance is not "picture perfect" that can make the whole experience even worse. (This of course, can apply to any girl, depending on her frame of mind). Fortunately, here are some beauty tips that can come to the rescue for your face and skin type, so you can meet the world refreshed and ready, as well as some make-up and safety tips for when you're going out
and having fun. All this said, always remember that true self improvement comes from within, and that while looking good on the outside, in terms of being presentable and attractive, are always find a strive for, but never define who you are.

Facial Skin Care Tip

Some people can confuse the physical transformation that comes with putting makeup on, with a sort of personal transformation, but again this is not the truth.  When you feel beautiful inside, you will be more attractive to others on the outside. Makeup will not do it.
From a practical physical standpoint, it is a good idea to remember that your skin needs to breathe. It is important to keep your skin as natural as possible- so try and keep makeup is minimal as is necessary and keep going, "all-out" for special occasions like parties.
Mirrors with good high quality lighting are great for examining your skin – although the first time you take a really good close look it can be a loud and shocking personal alarm to take some fast action, if you’ve neglected your skin. Beauty tip no 1 is to take a close look at it at home and ensure before you do that you’ve done a good job of makeup removal. This can especially be true in the summer, when the excess heat can cause problems faster, if you've left  any makeup on your face for an extended period of time.

If your face is usually dry: Before you shower, apply a rich moisturizing mask or thick layer of moisturizer. The moist heat helps the mask plump up fine lines and creases temporarily. Apply a heavy layer of petroleum jelly to lips. At the end of the shower, use a warm damp washcloth to gently massage off both treatments, and then use a naturally made loofah to bring out a natural, healthy glow.

If your skin is naturally oily: Use toner before and after you get out of the shower, before, to clean off any oil that has risen to the surface during sleep, and again when you get out to take off any oil that has surfaced from the heat of the water.

If you have combination skin, only apply toner masks to the "T" area on your face, you could cause your cheeks to redden from applying toner there.
Dab yellow or skin-tone concealer on blue under eye circles. Stay away from lighter skin tone or white cover-ups. You can get free samples to try out in the privacy of your own home and samples are available for all skin tones.

Makeup Tips

You don’t have to wear makeup or dress like the people in fashion magazines to look great. But if you’re into cosmetics and couture, take a look at these articles.
IS MAKE UP SAFE?
For the most part, makeup is safe. But you need to use it properly. Learn about cosmetic safety.

Makeup and Cosmetic Safety

Serious problems from makeup and other cosmetics are rare. But sometimes problems can happen.
The most common injury from cosmetics is from scratching the eye with a mascara wand. Eye infections can result if the scratches go untreated. These infections can lead to ulcers on the cornea (clear covering of the eye) or even blindness. To play it safe, never try to apply mascara while riding in a car, bus, train, or plane.
Sharing makeup can also lead to serious problems. Cosmetic brushes and sponges pick up bacteria from the skin. And if you moisten brushes with saliva, the problem can be worse. Washing your hands before using makeup will help prevent this problem.
Sleeping while wearing eye makeup can cause problems too. If mascara flakes into your eyes while you sleep, you might wake up with itching, bloodshot eyes, infections, or eye scratches. So be sure to remove all makeup before going to bed.
Cosmetic products that come in aerosol containers also can be a hazard. For example, it is dangerous to use aerosol hairspray near heat, fire, or while smoking. Until hairspray is fully dry, it can catch on fire and cause serious burns. Fires related to hairsprays have caused injuries and death. Aerosol sprays or powders also can cause lung damage if they are deeply inhaled into the lungs.
