Mother of the bride - what to wear?

For the mother of the bride it can be just as much of a dilemma on what to wear,you want to look good, but 'motherly' and definitely not take away from the bride... do you match the wedding theme colours, do you go for a hat, stay traditional or be true to yourself?

Most high street bridal shops and department stores will provide the 'usual' mother of the bride look (Freudian slip - I almost typed monster of the bride)!!  But for a slightly different, younger look try places such a Net a Porter.com.
